How a Community Sports Centre Achieved Net Zero and Lowered Its Energy Bills
A community sports centre in Leicestershire reached Net Zero for its direct emissions – while exporting more energy than it imported from the grid.
We are delighted to announce new partnerships with three respected education institutions, helping them bring their ambitious decarbonisation plans to life through funding from the Salix Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) Phase 3c. Each project aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions and energy use across multiple campuses, aligning with the UK’s drive towards net zero in the public sector.
Already leading the way with low-carbon energy in several buildings on its Rush Green campus, Barking & Dagenham College has now engaged HI Group to complete the decarbonisation of its remaining buildings within the scope of the PSDS grant. This comprehensive approach ensures that all eligible campus facilities contribute to a more sustainable future for students, staff, and the surrounding community.
An award-winning institution, Weston College is pioneering the ‘Net Zero College of the Future’ vision for its learners nationwide. HI Group is proud to assist in decarbonising all buildings covered by the PSDS grant across their three campuses: Knightstone, Loxton, and SWS. This transformative project will position Weston College as a leading example of sustainable practices in further education.
As one of the UK’s top providers of university-bound students to the UK university system, Reigate College is committed to the Climate Action Roadmap for UK FE Colleges. HI Group has been engaged to design and install a state-of-the-art heat pump system for the campus, aligning with the college’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and setting a standard for sustainable development in education.
We are proud to work with our college partners, helping them to achieve meaningful progress on their path to net zero and shape a greener, more sustainable future for all.
